Pendleton, Oregon. The Pendleton Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the hiring of Janet Mae Duffy Murphy as Executive Director of the 125 year old membership organization. Janet comes to the position with 18 years of leadership experience in organization management through her work with chambers of commerce and economic development organizations in Montana and Nevada.
While serving as the Vice President of the Great Falls, Montana Chamber of Commerce, Janet was the director of the Convention Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the leadership programs. She gained extensive experience in tourism promotion and in 2005 was recognized by the Governor with the Tourism Partnership of the Year award for the collaboration between the Great Falls CVB and Regional Tourism organization. Janet’s motto is, “We grow stronger together!”
During her tenure as the Executive Director at the Laughlin, Nevada Chamber of Commerce Janet’s scope of responsibility broadened into advocating at local, state and federal levels on behalf of business with government and economic development – primary sector recruitment and workforce talent attraction and recruitment. In addition to the chamber programs of work, Janet is well versed and accomplished in business development - entrepreneur training, business advising/counseling, and is a NxLeveL (entrepreneurial training network) facilitator. Janet is also a graduate of the Western Association of Chamber Executives four-year academy program. Janet is passionate about building a stronger local economy and has the tools and strengths to put those words into action.
Janet is a native Montanan, born and raised in Whitefish. Janet is married to her high school sweetheart, Thomas and is the proud mama of Marine PFC Tyler Duffy and aspiring art student Alyssa. As an empty nester, Janet is excited about this new chapter in her life and new role as the Executive Director at the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce.
