As 2018 begins, I find myself saying goodbye to the Chamber and hello to a new position with Umatilla County. I have mixed emotions. I have spent 10 years with the Chamber. Almost 4 years as the Office Manager, 3 months as the interim Executive Director and 6 years as the Executive Director. Wow! Hard to believe. The time has flown by and the Chamber has been constantly involved with the community and working hard to promote Pendleton and its businesses. It has been a privilege to work for the Chamber and for you, its members! Besides working for you, I think it is important to say the Chamber staff is here to work with you. The Chamber is a membership organization. We are here to work with you, promote you, help you gain knowledge. The Chamber would not be here without you. So as I move on to work in a different capacity, I encourage you to keep working with the Chamber. Take advantage of your membership benefits, make it worth being a member. Challenge yourself to use a member benefit that you haven’t used yet. Advertise with the Chamber, connect with the Chamber’s social media outlets, attend a workshop, read the monthly newsletter and the weekly Monday Minute email update. You will be glad that you did as you become more informed, more connected and linked together with over 400 other businesses in Pendleton.
The Chamber is celebrating its 125th Anniversary in 2018! Can you believe that? 125 years! Once known as the Commercial Association, the Chamber continues to connect the community, businesses, and individuals. As part of our anniversary and our overall marketing strategy, we would like to know what are the reasons that you Love Pendleton? Join us in using the #ILovePendleton in your social media posts. Grab a window cling, t-shirt or hat that lets the world know you Love Pendleton. The Chamber has collaborated with several local merchants to offer this fun hometown pride in 2018. Swing by the Chamber office to see the various items as they start arriving in 2018. To help share the love, the Chamber will be having an Open House, Happy Anniversary and show of love on Feb. 14th at the Chamber office! Stop by and enjoy a piece of cake in honor of Valentine’s Day, the State of Oregon’s Birthday and the Chamber’s 125th Anniversary!
I am very thankful and proud of my time and association with the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce. I am so glad to have gotten to know all of you and to have had the opportunity to work with you. As I move on to a new role, I will miss the Chamber but I am excited for new challenges and also excited to know that I will continue to get to work with many of you and hopefully benefit many of you as I focus on developing economic and tourism opportunities throughout Umatilla County.
I absolutely need to say Thank You to the hardworking and dedicated staff of the Chamber and Travel Pendleton, the many volunteers that spend time working on committees and helping the Chamber be so vital and of course the devoted Board Directors that volunteer their time, expertise and love of Pendleton! I wish all of you peace, joy, and prosperity in 2018!
All the best,
