Pendleton offers all the convenience of big-city living in the comfort and safety of a small town. Located in the sunny northeastern corner of the state, Pendleton is home to nearly 17,000 residents. Founded in 1868 and incorporated in 1880, Pendleton has a rich history, yet continues to thrive as a modern, progressive community.

The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation is adjacent to the city. These good neighbors are an integral part of the community. The Wildhorse Resort & Casino hosts many renowned entertainers and world-class events throughout the year.

Pendleton has many public parks with exceptional amenities. The Family Aquatic Center is the place to be between Memorial Day and Labor Day. With water slides, toys, Olympic-size pool and diving basin, a sand volleyball court and many more fun amenities, families spend many hours playing together. Then in the winter, the city installs an ice-skating rink for family fun in the winter.

Because of Pendleton’s prime location, outdoor adventures in the Blue Mountains and on the Columbia River are just minutes away. And the Umatilla River, which flows right through town, provides excellent fishing as well as a two-mile-long paved and illuminated walkway along its length through town.

Few communities boast as much activity as Pendleton when it comes to the fine and performing arts. Numerous productions deliver moving performances on the stage year-‘round , while the Oregon East Symphony and chorale showcase extraordinary musicians and vocalists with a reputation for excellence. The fine arts are visible around the entire community. Numerous murals, statues, and even the whimsical cattle drive, while galleries and centers teach, create, and sell a variety of mediums and forms.
